Zach Devoid fired in BFA's first goal in the Bobwhites' 3-0 win over CVU.
The BFA boys hockey team topped CVU 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Cairns Arena. The Bobwhites won their sixth straight game and got a bit of payback against the team that knocked them out of the Division I semifinals last season.

With 4:59 left in the second period, Zach Devoid fired in a goal from the blue line to give BFA (10-1) the 1-0 advantage.
“I was just firing on net trying to get rebounds and it went in,” said Devoid. “We were trying to get the puck up to their defense and crash the net real hard. It means a lot to beat the defending champs but it’s also just nice to keep stringing together wins.”
The Bobwhites outshot CVU (4-7) 11-2 in the first period but could not convert and the game remained scoreless. The Redhawks had plenty of chances in the second period as they dominated shots 14-5, but it was BFA who finally broke through.
BFA’s Owen Dean added an insurance goal with under three minutes to play. Nick Berno then added an empty net goal with 34 seconds remaining. Taylor Raftery finished with two assists and Cody Robtoy also had an assist for the Bobwhites.
BFA junior Andrew Morin stopped all 18 shots he faced for the shutout. Jason O’Brien made 15 saves and Zach Weimer made nine saves for CVU.
