Coloutti, Purrier Named November VSSA HS Athletes of the Month

The Vermont Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association (VSSA) has announced the November winners of the High School Athletes of the Month. Male and female winners are named on a monthly basis during the school year.

Female:
Elle Purrier, junior, Richford Cross Country

Purrier set a course record by 14.5 seconds in becoming the first Vermonter to win a New England cross country championship since 1998, beating a three-time Rhode Island champion by 10 seconds Nov. 12. Two weeks later, Purrier again led from start to finish in the Nike Northeast regional championships, posting the fastest time in the event’s five-year history — her sixth meet or course record in an invitational or championship race this fall — to remain undefeated on the season.

Male:
Robert Coloutti, senior, Fair Haven Football

Fair Haven captain and quarterback Robert Coloutti’s four touchdown passes and three touchdown runs helped the Slaters go 2-0 in November on the way to their first Division II state football title since 2001. The senior rushed for a team high 141 yards in the D-II championship game for a total of 206 rushing yards in November. Coloutti went 13 for 18 on pass attempts and threw for 255 yards, a 19.6 yard average per completion (passing for 147 yards in the final). He also caught an interception on defense in Fair Haven’s semifinal win over Milton, while completing 9 of 11 passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 65 yards, including the go ahead touchdown with 5:43 left in the game.He also played well in the North-South game on Nov. 19, throwing an18-yard touchdown pass as the South won. Coloutti started every game for the 9-2 Slaters and played both ways.
