Junior fullback Ed Doton rushed for three touchdowns as Woodstock captured its first Division III State Championship since 2006 with a 27-7 victory over Windsor on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Stadium.
Doton ran for 255 yards and was part of a Wasp ground attack which churned out 365 yards on the ground. Junior Nicholas Sprague added 83 yards and a score for Woodstock. The Wasps’ defense held Windsor in check without an offensive touchdown just 173 total yards of offense. Matt Rafus led the team with 40 rushing yards while Kyle Chusing added five catches for 51 yards.
Sprague got Woodstock on the board with 3:26 remaining in the first quarter and Doton made it 14-0 on a 32-yard scamper with just one second left in the first.
Neither team scored until Windsor got on the board with 7:35 in the third. Rafus blocked a 35-yard field goal attempt by Woodstock and Ethan Hill picked up the ball and went 75 yards in for the score.
In the final quarter of action, Doton added touchdown runs of nine and 35 yards to seal the victory for the Wasps.
Sophomore Oliver Kaija was distruptive on defense, finishing with nine tackles, including 1.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for a loss. Doton added ten tackles.

woodstock’s O-line dominated. first time that i saw the Doton kid. he has great feet and likes to mix it up when needed. woodstock’s D also outstanding. made big stops all day long. also, looks like they have a bunch of players returning, probably see them in finals again next year.
