BFA shocks Essex in Boys Soccer

Senior Cameron White collected a 12-save shut out as BFA St. Albans stunned Essex 2-0 at Essex.  The win helped the Bobwhites improve to 6-7 on the year with their final regular season game tomorrow at Burlington.  The Hornet’s have lost four out of the last five, and drop to 8-5-1 on the year.

Both teams couldn’t knock one home in the first half, but Essex had the best scoring chance with 16:30 remaining when Eric Lamphere crossed a pass to junior Mirza Smajic.  Smajic manged to get a head on it, but it was just wide of the net.

The Bobwhites came out strong in the 2nd half with an early goal by senior Camilo Cuadra.  The original shot by Kody Baker deflected off a diving Dan Palker to the right foot of Cuadra.  The game remained intense as Essex continued to launch shots on White.

Essex had its chances to notch the score to one a piece, but White was in the right position.  With 9:30 left, Essex captain Thomas Antensaye made a beautiful service on a corner kick, to Lucas Martin.  White, was in position again to make a game saving save.

BFA sealed the win with 3:37 left in the game when Cuadra shot just right of the net, to an oncoming Baker who finished it home.

Both of these teams hope to make runs at a state title, as the pairings will be released Monday around 10:00am.  VermontScoreboard will post the pairings as soon as possible.
