South Burlington Edges Middlebury 12-10 for D-I Title

Trailing by one with 2:25 left to play, South Burlington’s Allie Flaherty scored two straight goals followed by a Alyssa Guyette goal to give the #2 seeded Rebels a 12-10 win over top seed Middlebury in the Division I championship game. The championship is South Burlington’s first since 2007.

Flaherty finished with four goals for South Burlington as did fellow sophomore Anne-Marie Farmer.

Katie Ritter scored four goals for Middlebury along with two assists. Chrissy Ritter also scored four goals while Liz Kelley scored twice. Kelley suffered a leg injury late in the first half and did not return.

Ashley McDonald finished with 11 saves for South Burlington. Maria Ploof stopped 15 shots for Middlebury.
