It is time for Week Two of Lax Watch. Rain continues to slow the start of the 2011 season and caused more postponements and field chanfes for lacrosse teams around Vermont. Last year’s Division I finalists CVU and Essex battled at Burlington High School last week due to poor conditions in Essex. BHS was the site of last year’s title game but the result was different in the rematch. After a back and forth first three quarters, CVU took control late to avenge last year’s title game loss. The win kept them perfect on the year and the Redhawks stand at 5-0.

Games to watch
Friday: CVU at Mt. Mansfield – The Cougars have gotten off to a slower than expected start but would receive a big confidence boost if they knock off the Redhawks on their home turf.
Tuesday: South Burlington at Essex – The Rebels aim to show they are a team that will contend with an early season meeting with the Hornets.
SB’s only losses are to out of state teams that any other team in VT would lose to

Bratt is 4-0 with wins over rivals MAU and Rutland..the colonels have shown heart and the skills needed to compete against any team in the state

These SB kids need to grow up. Sure you only lost to 2 out of state teams isnt really saying much. They lost to Hanover who was beaten by CVU and MMU played a close game with in the preseason. Saying stuff like Dee only being able to be a 4th or 5th attackman is such a tool thing to say. Dan Cone couldnt play with Dee even if Lawrence was blindfolded. Connor Devito or whatever your name is you are probably one of the dirtiest and ugliest players in the state. MMU has played awful this season and they took you to overtime after leading you by 5 at halftime. So all you SB kids thinking your hot sh*t cause you made a little comment on VT scoreboard just stop.
SB you guys are cocky pr*cks, Lawrence is filthy, such a high lax IQ, yeah SB is talented, but dont talk smack when you guys havnt played. And Marston and Josh are btoh very good faceoff, expect Josh is a FOGO, and MArston actually plays
Hahaha these kids on here talking sh*t when CVU is still undeafed. There is no one in the state better then Jake at face offs. Also Dee and Gingras are potentially the most lethal duo in the state, not to mention Beaudry and Wells.

Not trash talking. This is referring to the write up of the cvu-essex game and a great player who has yet to be mentioned. Taylor Gingras had two goals in the Essex game which were key and gave Cvu momentum to separate themselves from essex. Not to mention he assisted Justin Beaudry and griffin brady on two clutch goals to put the game out of reach. Against BFA he played tough and fearless scoring four goals and tallying three assists while collecting six ground balls.
Yo I’m just warning y’all st. Albans lax may not look good now but we come alive in the playoffs were like the black mamba and were taking everyone down from cvu to essex and especially those kids from sb
CVU is just over rated. they are one of those teams that chokes in the playoffs and they haven’t even won a state championship since like 2006. personally i think that dan cone and evan nolting are the best 1-2 punch in the whole state. dee and gingras can’t even compare to them.

I also feel that mmu st albans and spaulding are all teams that could pull an upset against any of the top teams.
I feel that the best attackmen in the state is shawn haskins from mmu. He is lightning quick and makes the best feeds. He is also faster tougher and has a harder shot than dee from cvu. Don’t get me wrong dee has great stick skills and is a great leader. But when Ur down one with yen seconds left and u need a hard run at the cage. Haskins will throw a.pump fak dodge right cut back left and bury one in the back of the cage.
Ps. sb’s cone is also a young gun with. Righty rip that OS catching eyes all across the state
South Burlington’s Kyle Kaseta puts up a huge obstacle for upcoming contenders……watch out CVU

i agree with laxwatcher 100%. Shawn Haskins is hands down the best player in the state. Unfortunately he didn’t get mr hockey but he is absolutely in the running for mr lacrosse.

in defense of southern teams, mau/bratt/rutland/woodstock are forced to play d2 teams such as burr and burton or msj because they are in the same league, the MVL…consider who a team plays and why before bashing them..
Also Dee said he was being looked at by hopkins and other d1 schools..anyone know if he committed somewhere seeing that it is past the may 1 deadline….any other northern commits?

All I have to say is that people shouldn’t talk a big game that can’t back it up. Shawn haskins from MMU. you guaranteed a win against cvu. they won 13-5. In response to lax watchers comment. Dee had 1 goal and 4 assits in the mmu cvu game…in the first half. Had he not hurt his leg it would have been even more. For all those that say CVU is overrated. I don’t think you have much to back it up now. Down three starters they beat sb, the number two to three team in the state, 16-6. Beaudry who know one has even recognized lead the charge with 6 goals. Dee had 3 goals and five assists. They got production from the midfield and its bench players. Chris bulla worked his man from the right side and he doesn’t even start. I’d stop talking trash and start working harder in practice.

Who are the 3 starters that did not play for CVU (at SB)? One a brighter note for SB. …The SB JV’s gave the CVU JV’s their first lose of the season something like 8-3.

Hey domination….
How can you say this…….The other day CVU beat SB in baseball 2-1, in hockey this past season less then :02 seconds in game CVU wins 1-0 on a broken play. In the hockey game if SB gets into overtime anyone could have won and the winning goal scored by CVU was alittle lucky which usually ends a hard fought playoff game like this one. I liked our changes in OT (2 seniors in box, both captians on weak calls) as this was an absolute even game from start to finish. If SB had a (CV) Union district to chose from 5 towns I think we would have more talent to pick from but thats not the case and that is life. We will see how the Lax season unfolds and I think 2 of 3 teams from Chittenden County are in the finals either SB, CVU or Essex. One of these teams will be eliminated….only time will tell but I think SB has a good chance being in the finals at seasons end.

Last year’s enrollment numbers… CVU: 1395, BHS: 1093 and SBHS: 930. CVU has 50% more students than SBHS.

A win is a win… OK so one kid is supposed to score another 10 goals.. i dont think so… Yea CVU gets five towns.. 2 of them produce not many athletes… so whatever un fair and al of this stuff ur saying. is dumb.. you also got smoked by a NH team and CVU dominated Lebanon. a 26-13 game… how many people live in SB compaired to all of the towns that go to CVU the Biggest is williston… So u guys lost get over it… When u play tomorrow we will se what the end result is… No matter what happens the only thing that matters who wins the crown at the end of the year!
Don’t know who wrote that I was getting looked at by hopkins and hofstra. pretty funny though. anybody in their right mind should know that there is no way im getting looked at by two top division 1 teams.
CVU Fan……….all I said is that at the end of the season two teams will be playing for the state title and in my opinion it will be either Essex, CVU or SB. One of these teams will be eliminated and it might be SB. The numbers speak for themself and this is a fact that CVU has 50% more kids to choose from than SB. Lets see how the games is played today and remember in a few weeks anyone can win in the playoffs and I think this year we might see some upsets in the games. This makes for an exciting time of the year. Have fun tonight!!!
okay first off, being from sb, yes we shit talk, but for this lax team this year they need to do less talking and more proving how good they are. just because you have athletic players and skilled players doesnt mean youre going to win anything at all. From what ive seen from sb this year, they have what is needed to win a state title, except for one very key factor. they are not real “team” there are to many egos that need to get checked in to place if this team wants to be as successful as the 09 team that won it all. It looks as of right now that CVU and essex are the best “teams” in the state. Until SB steps it up, it will remain that way
