Girls Hockey Metro Division Championship
#1 Spaulding (17-1-4) vs. #3 BFA St. Albans (14-6-1)
March 14 at Gutterson Fieldhouse 8:00pm
Spaulding and BFA face off Monday night for the D-I state title in girls’ hockey. The same two teams met last year in the title game with BFA topping Spaulding 1-0.
Neither team has allowed a goal so far in the playoffs, which is a testament to strong goalie play leading teams in the playoffs. Shanley Howrigan protects the goal for BFA while Gabbie Willey plays goalie for Spaulding.
Spaulding has been dominating the Metro Division all season long. The Tide only lost once all season, a 3-1 upset by Essex. Hayley Arnold and Nicolette Gosselin lead the way offensively for the Tide. Willey has been strong at goalie this season. She has double-digit shutouts on the season and has helped Spaulding allow the fewest goals of any Metro Division team.
BFA has played in nine of the ten championship games ever played. Senior Taylor Girard leads a balanced Comets team. Girard is one of only five seniors on the BFA squad.
