Ethan Paquette Drafted By Seattle Mariners

West Burke, Vermont native and former University of Vermont Catamount standout Ethan Paquette was drafted by the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, June 9.  The senior first basemen who was forced to transfer from the University of Vermont after the school decided to cut its baseball program is enjoying his best season in a college uniform this year with Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY. Paquette was selected in the 35th round (1,062 overall) and became the seventh player ever selected in the MLB Draft from Hofstra.

Paquette sizzled this year at the plate for the Pride as he hit .371 while leading the team in the following categories: 76 hits, 19 doubles, 14 home runs and 70 RBIs (single season Hofstra record). As well as being a selection in the MLB Draft, Paquette was also selected to CAA All-Conference First Team in 2010.
